Our clients work hard, so we like to celebrate them when they find what they seek—typically a new executive assignment. Lately, though, the celebration is getting to be exhausting because so many clients are landing or receiving offers—more than fifty in the past four weeks!
In a way, that’s not surprising. After all, that is what we do at the Barrett Group: we help executive clients clarify their career plans and then discover through our five-step career change system how to achieve more income, higher satisfaction, and better work/life balance—and we’ve been doing it for more than 30 years. These clients landed in a broad range of industries (in descending order):
The fifty landed as a consequence of a huge surge in interview activity during the third quarter (see Client Interviews chart, below). We carefully prepare clients to excel during the interview stage of their searches so that they typically come off as undoubtedly the best candidate for the jobs they really want. Of course, we also help them increase the value of their offers, usually by tens of thousands of dollars, using the more than 100 compensation items our negotiation coaches have at their disposal–not to mention three decades of experience.
To name just a few of the titles they received, here is a partial list (because not all clients reveal their full details until after their announcement becomes public):
They landed in Europe, Canada, UAE, Saudi Arabia, and, of course, the United States at total compensation ranging between $150,000 and >$500,000 (after we helped them negotiate, of course). Read about the details each week on our Front Line reports where we provide the blow by blow of our clients’ experience at the interview, offer, and landing stages, albeit anonymously until the client gives us permission to share.
Many clients come to us because they are actually looking for an executive position either for the first time ever (because they have simply been lucky so far) or for the first time in ten or even twenty years and they realize that the market has moved on. Many admit that they really do not know the first thing about looking for a job at their level. Others feel it necessary to give it a try on their own first, though many of these come back to us after several wasted months and sign on, admitting they do actually need help. Either way, clearly they have come to the right place.
As one recent client put it:
“I went from having no confidence in conducting a job search to feeling very confident. I wish everyone could do The Barrett Group program. When you’re going through the process, you don’t realize how it will all come together for you. I found it to be worth every penny.” [Lynn Duke, 2021, Read More].
